About Asian Festival on Main
The Asian Festival on Main (AFM) was born from a time of uncertainty, resilience, and hope. During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the AAPI community faced not only the struggles of the pandemic itself but also a wave of discrimination and isolation that left many of us feeling unseen and unheard. In response, a few dedicated business owners in Old Town Fairfax came together with a shared vision—to create a space that would highlight and celebrate Asian culture, foster unity, and bring our community closer together.
From day one, the City of Fairfax has been a vital partner in making AFM possible. Their unwavering support and collaboration have helped this festival grow and thrive, and they continue to play an integral role in planning and ensuring the success of this cherished community event.
Now, five years later, AFM has evolved into a powerful tradition that embodies the rich diversity, strength, and perseverance of Asian Americans. Through vibrant food, music, performances, and cultural showcases, we’ve created an event that goes beyond celebration—it’s about education, connection, and understanding. We proudly partner with local organizations to share the rich heritage of Asian Americans and highlight the unique experiences of different ethnicities, bridging gaps and fostering meaningful conversations.
At its core, AFM is about togetherness, love, and community. It’s a day where people from all walks of life come together to experience the beauty of Asian culture, support local businesses, and uplift the AAPI community. As a non-profit event, all proceeds are donated to AAPI charities, ensuring that our efforts continue to support those who need it most.
What started as a small gathering has now become a beloved annual event, drawing thousands of visitors each year who come to celebrate, learn, and stand in solidarity. This milestone of five incredible years is a testament to the resilience of our community and the unwavering support from our sponsors, volunteers, the City of Fairfax, and attendees who believe in our mission.
We invite you to join us in making this year’s festival the biggest and best yet. Together, let’s continue to celebrate the richness of Asian culture, strengthen our bonds, and create lasting memories that remind us of the power of unity.
